Reducing Emissions

Over the past year, energy consumption across our sites has reduced as our operations have evolved. We have continued to seek out improvements through adjustments and upgrades that we can make across our sites, as well as looking to develop a Weetabix Energy Strategy, using recommendations from the Phase 3 ESOS survey completed earlier this year.

Efficiency Gains

Over the past year, we have upgraded the engines used within our Combined Heat and Power Plant (CHP) to make them more reliable and efficient. Since the overhaul completion, engine availability and efficiency has increased from 75% to 85%.

What
we’ve done

  • Achieved a major milestone by having our near-term, Net-Zero, and FLAG targets validated by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) in July 2025.

  • Reduced our absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 10% towards our 2025 target.

  • Increased the efficiency of our logistics, enabling 25% more product to be transported in each delivery vehicle.

  • Adopted the “HowGood” software system to improve carbon footprint reporting and supplier selection.

What
we’re doing

  • Working towards our new, ambitious SBTivalidated target to reduce Scope 1 & 2 GHG emissions by 54.6% by 2033.

  • Actively assessing alternative energy sources, including solar, hydrogen, and biogas, to power our sites.

  • Continuing to use our procurement process to influence and reduce our Scope 3 emissions across our supply chain.

"Securing SBTi validation was the starting gun, not the finish line. It solidifies our net-zero commitment and empowers our team to focus on the critical engineering work ahead – from pioneering new energy sources to building a truly low-carbon supply chain."
